Snoops Drawn and (hopefully not) Quartered!

As had once been famously said, the reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated! I’ve still been scribbling away at GDIT, finishing up “The Case that Ended the Beginning” and starting two new tales. One is a new Snoop Mommies Mystery, “The Smell Test,” in which the Snoop Mommies of Oak Run Acres—Mrs. Lucinda White, Mrs. Julie Ross, and Mrs. Terri Martin—track down a particularly foul-smelling slime which has suddenly invaded the peaceful confines of Oak Run Acres. The other is the very first Snowden State Snoops tale, “The Change-of-Life Adventure,” in which things get generally turned upside down for our Snoops Tricia, Krysten, Hannah, Maggie, and Carrie as they jump into collegiate life at Snowden State University. Mrs. Parker, Krysten’s mom, finds herself minus one husband and plus one baby, which is going to combine with collegiate Snoops and a return visit by the nefarious Ms. Grey to make Snowden State a dangerous place for a Snoop to matriculate! And there are more tales on the grill, too—most notably, a new Darius Allen Detective Club tale, “Boyfriend Trouble,” in which the club’s first real case will hit rather too close to home for the Darius Allen Detective Club’s comfort! There’s even another Very First Snoop tale slowly brewing!…

But what I’ve mostly been doing is drawing! Having lived in a miasma of manga and anime courtesy of The Kitty and Knucklehead for lo these many years, this past summer I finally tried my hand at some of it. Having finally figured out correct (or nearly correct) proportions for drawing characters, and learned a few trick to creating mangled attempts at anime versions of my Snoops, I took up the drawing pencil and found out I could actually create a recognizable if not very good illustration—WITHOUT TRACING! Maybe this old dog isn’t quite so old, since he apparently has learned a new trick or two! Add a free version of the Artrage drawing and paint software (which is highly addictive to me), and the result has been Snoops illustrations! Not nearly as good as anything the GDIT Artist Laureate erikson1 has ever created—not even in the same universe!—but still and all, they might be of interest to those who follow the Snoops. I have my own almost-new deviantArt page, too, on which my Snoops work has been posted. Let me know what you think, but please be polite enough to not laugh too hard at my “works of art!”…
